UFC Fight Night: Ladd vs Dumont - Picks and Predictions

I’ve got some of my favorite picks from tonight’s card here! For predictions on the full card, check out this weeks episode of Pickin’ Fights!

My prelim lock this week is Bruno Silva. He’s just too good for Andrew Sanchez. Bruno Silva has seriously heavy hands, and majority of his professional wins have come via TKO. He‘s also riding a 5 fight win streak over solid competition, his last two being against Wellington Turman and Artem Frolov. He’s currently sitting at around -165 so I’ll be adding his ML to my parlay, as well as taking him by KO/TKO straight. I feel really good about that prop.

Manon Fiorot is a seriously good striker. Vegas agrees with me on this, and has her currently sitting at about -270. I really like her finishing ability, which many others in her division do not possess. I see her completely overwhelming Mayra Bueno Silva. She’ll most likely win by decision, but she can also score knockdowns, leading to a ground and pound TKO. I’ll add her to my parlay as well as take her by KO/TKO straight.

Experience counts for a lot in fighting, and Jim Miller has plenty of it. His current record is 32-16, and has fought some of the bestin the division, like Dustin Poirier, Dan Hooker, and current champ Charles Oliveira. He lost to all those guys but fought valiantly. He’s going up against Erick Gonzalez, who doesn’t hold a candle to the three guys I just listed. He also hasn’t fought a similar level of talent, and doesn’t have the same amount of experience. There is a chance that he goes out and surprises everyone, so I’ll keep Miller out of my parlay, however I will sprinkle a bit on Jim Miller to win by submission. He has a really good BJJ game, and if this fight goes to the ground, expect him to lock up some limbs.

This one is a true pickem. Veteran Andre Arlovski is going up against new prospect Carlos Filipe. Andre is in his 40’s and fans have an idea of what to expect from him. Carlos is new and we don’t know much about his game yet. I’m going to stick with who I know and take Andre Arlovski straight at -115.

The main event. Aspen Ladd vs Norma Dumont. I was really skeptical about Aspen Ladd after she missed weight, at 135 lbs two weeks ago. Holly Holm was supposed to fight Norma Dumont tonight at 145 lbs, got hurt in camp, and now Aspen Ladd is filling in. She looked comfortable on the scale Thursday in her new weight class. Norma Dumont was also training to fight Holly Holm, who’s a standup striker, and Ladd is a wrestler with G’n’P finishing ability. I think Aspen Ladd will take advantage of her stylistic difference, bring Norma Dumont to the ground consistently, and maul her. I‘ll be adding her to my parlay, as well as taking her by TKO.
