UFC Fight Night: Font vs Aldo - Picks and Predictions

Back after a brief hiatus with some quick picks. Main card starts at 10 pm, so lock your picks in soon. Comment down below or @ us on Twitter with your picks.

Alex Morono vs Mickey Gall

Alex Morono is a solid all around fighter, who is just as good on the ground as he is on his feet. Morono has had great performances against some true blue UFC vets, like Anthony Pettis and Donald Cerrone. The path to beating Morono is 1 punch KO power, and Mickey Gall doesn’t have that. So I’m taking Morono by decision, and adding him to my parlay.

Brendan Allen vs Chris Curtis

Taking Chris Curtis straight here. This is a risky pick, as he is a +280 underdog, but I really liked his performance at UFC 268 just under a month ago, knocking out Phil Hawes. That was Curtis’s UFC debut and oddsmakers may be considering that in this matchup against Brendan Allen, who’s been around for a bit longer. One thing to take note of is that Brendan Allen lost to Sean Strickland, and Curtis is one of Strickland’s many training partners, so he may go in with a similar strategy. Curtis is hungry and was practically begging for performance bonus money at 268, and to be booked for another fight soon. I expect him to come out aggressive, looking for another shocking win, and taking home a performance bonus. Curtis is a highly underrated striker with power in his hands.

Jimmy Crute vs Jamahal Hill

These guys are the epitome of toughness. Both of them suffered memorable injuries to their joints in their last fights, respectively, which ultimately ended them. Jimmy Crute received a perfectly placed kick from Anthony Smith which gave him dropfoot, and Jamahal Hill’s arm was wrenched out at the elbow in a kimura attempt. Both men attempted to continue fighting in those bouts, Crute somehow winning in the ground, then pounding his chest begging the referee to let him continue. I like Crute in this bout at -175 because of a history of combined KO and submission wins, and the toughness he showed when his leg literally stopped working. I’ll be taking Jimmy Crute straight as well as adding him to my parlay.

Brad Riddell vs Rafael Fiziev

This is a tough pickem fight between two of the hardest guys in the UFC. Flip a coin to find out who wins. I’m personally going with Rafael Fiziev because I love the guy, but don’t be shocked if Brad Riddell wins here. The smartest pick is fight to go the distance, because they’ve both got great chins and head movement. It will be an entertaining war, so definitely tune in.

Rob Font vs Jose Aldo

I’m taking Jose Aldo here at +125, straight and in my parlay He’s a slight underdog, but in my opinion beats Rob Font 7 out of 10 times. All of their tangibles are similar, as they’re both about the same age, same height, with similar reach. He’s somehow getting better with every fight despite being 35 years old. His boxing is impeccable and has some of the fastest hands in all of the UFC. He also has long legs which he uses to chop away at his opponents with leg kicks and manage distance. He got high fight IQ and has Shared an octagon with some of the best of all time. I feel very good about this pick, so I’m calling Aldo my lock of the night. I love the underdog line here.

My Parlay

Alex Morono -220

Jimmy Crute -175

Jose Aldo +125

The total odds come out to +414.
