Ryley’s Daily Basketball Pick - March 18th
It’s day 2 of the March Madness tournament, and we’ve got a lot of good games still to go in the round of 64. Tonight at 9:40 PM ET, Davidson and Michigan St are playing for a slot in the round of 32.
Davidson is coming into this game with an overall record of 18-11 ATS. Michigan St is coming into this game with an overall record of 15-16 ATS, but only has covered 3 out of their last 10 games. Davidson is ranked 10th in adjusted offense, which will be a mismatch for Michigan St’s half court defense that ranks outside the top 100. Foster Loyer is a former Michigan St Spartan, and since transferring to Davidson, he’s had his best season yet- averaging 16.5 PPG and shooting 44.5% from three.
The Spartans have their own concerns with starting point guard Tyson Walker's sprained ankle that might keep him limited in this game. I’m not a fan of Michigan St’s inconsistent offense even with Walker being healthy. The Spartans only have 1 player averaging double digits per game while Davidson has 4. Davidson will have opportunities to run in transition off of turnovers. Davidson will make enough stops down the stretch to edge this one out. My Pick Davidson ML -105.
