PLL Week 8 Picks and Predictions

The blog hiatus is officially over. We are now passing the All-Star break and we are ready to pick up where we left off, with making some money. The boys are headed down to Frisco, Texas to play at The Star and they’re going to bring it. So I have to bring it with these picks.

**Odds provided by Draftkings Sportsbook**

7/30 2:00 PM EST Archers -1.5 (-125) vs Atlas (-105) O/U 25.5

Last week in Fairfield the Atlas suffered their second loss of the season going down 16-15 to the Redwoods. The Bulls played without the services of face off man and likely MVP candidate Trevor Baptiste. They fought hard to the very end but their fate was ultimately sealed by a Myles Jones two-pointer. The Archers on the other hand Took care of business, beating the Cannons 17-12. Justin Inacio went 22 of 30 at the faceoff dot for the Archers. Will Manny continued his run of dominance, posting another 6 point day. He is having an all timer of a season right now and it is amazing to see it happen in the latter half of his career. He is currently 9th all time in career points and I could see him jump up another spot or two before it is all said and done. I am leaning towards the Atlas +1.5 here. They are a super young and hard working team. I do not see them dropping two in a row and if they do they will definitely make it close. The reason I am giving the lean is because Baptisite is still questionable for the weekend. I do think they can manage without him but I would definitely be more confident with him on the field. They do also have the better goalie in this match up. Concannon has a 57% save percentage while Ghitelman sits at 52%.

The Pick: Lean Atlas +1.5

7/30 4:30 PM EST Whipsnakes -1.5 (-185) vs Chrome (+100) O/U 23.5

The biggest surprise of the first half of the season was undoubtedly the massive success of Chrome LC. They had a phenomenal showing which had them head into the All-Star break with a 4-1 record. The large part of their success is thanks to their performance in the 2022 college draft. They took Tewaaraton winner Logan Wisnauskas first overall and then drafted Brendan Nichtern from Army to start the second round. They both are producing at a high level. Nichtern (12G, 12A) and Wisnauskas (14G, 4A) are both in the current top 10 for points on the season. The Whips are doing what they Whips do. They are sitting on top of the season standings with only one loss amd the best goal differential. Matt Rambo is once again leading the way as he has the highest point total on the team with 14 (6G, 8A). I think that this is going to be a great matchup. The Whips have a way of taking over games and dictating pace. We have said on past podcasts that they are not going to be the team to blow someone out. They will get their goals and will stifle the other team with their defense. If they win a game 5-4 it is because they chose for it to be that way. The Chrome are a great team and will surely put up a fight. The O/U is currently set at 23.5. The Chrome and Whips are a combined 5 for 8 for going under 23.5 in games where that has been the total. I like the under in this one.

The Pick: Under 23.5

7/31 1:00 PM EST Waterdogs -1.5 (-185) vs Cannons (+150) O/U 24.5

The first time these two teams met it was an absolute slaughter as the Cannons smashed the Waterdogs 16-10. The final score does not look terrible but the Cannons were leading 12-3 at halftime of that game. However, since then the Cannons have yet to win a second game. They have come close in some games but they currently sit at the bottom of the standings with the worst score differential. The Waterdogs are in the middle of the pack but are poised to make a push. I feel that they will catch fire in the second half just like they did last season. As far as this game is concerned I think that the Pups will be coming out for revenge. They were put on their heels from the opening whistle in the initial match up. I do not see that happening again. They have found their groove and are finding ways to produce all over the field. They also have All-World goalie Dillion Ward in goal for this one as opposed to last time. I like the Waterdogs ML here just in case of a 1 goal win.

The Pick: Waterdogs -185
