March 11th College Lacrosse Picks and Predictions
We are heating up. I appreciate everyone's support so far and I hope we can keep cashing these tickets. We went 2-0 last week and we are 4-1 in our last two weeks. I have two games for this weekend slate. Let's keep this thing going!
**Odds provided by Draft Kings**
Penn -2 (-245) vs Villanova (+180) O/U 24.5
This is one of the weekend games included in the Philly 4 classic. Penn is coming off an OT win against St Joes while Villanova handled Drexel. These two have quite a long history which makes sense given their close proximity. They have totaled 32 meetings with Penn winning 20 of them. 13 of the last 21 games have been within 2 goals and 19 of the last 21 have gone under 24.5 goals. I think Villanova can make this a game. They handed Penn State their only loss of the season and are sitting at 4-1. The Quakers are struggling and I think Nova will capitalize. I’ll take the Cats and the points and I am also going with the Under.
The Picks: Villanova +2 (-120), Under 24.5 (-115)
Cornell -3 (-320) vs Penn State (+225) O/U 25.5
Penn State is on a warpath through the Ivy League and the next stop on the list is Ithaca New York in a match up with the Cornell Big Red. Nittany Lions head Coach Jeff Tambroni is all too familiar with his opponent as he used to be their head coach. He was their head coach for 9 years and took them all the way to 2009 National Championship where they lost in OT after giving up a last second goal in regulation. These two teams have met 45 times since 1923 and Cornell has the edge with 23 wins to the Nittany Lions’ 22. 4 out of the last 6 meetings since 2016 have been less than a 3 goal margin. The Nittany Lions may not beat the Big Red but I have a feeling they can cover. Cornell is averaging 14.25 goals a game while Penn State is averaging 15.6. There is push potential given the number is right at 3 points but I am willing to take it. I think the Nittany Lions can win outright but it never hurts to take some points.
The Pick: Penn State +3 (-125)
