Showdown at High Noon: February 26th College Lacrosse Picks

10, that is the number of games happening at Noon on Saturday that we can bet on. Talk about having your pick of the litter. It is going to be quite difficult to keep track of all of them. My job is to find all the little gems for all of you out there. We went 3-2 last week so there is still some room for improvement. Let’s get to it.

** Odds provided by Draftkings Sportsbook**

Maryland -4.5 vs Princeton O/U 28.5

I think it is fair to say that Maryland has already made their case as a certified wagon. Last week they beat Cuse 14-10 in the Dome. That win honestly says more about Cuse in the fact that they could hang with the Terps. But the bottom line is winning is winning and the Terps looked great doing it. Princeton is 2-0 with wins against Monmouth and Binghamton, which does not give us much information on them. In the history of this meeting, Maryland is 31-12-1 all-time against Princeton. The Terps are one of those teams that I will be riding with until the wheels fall off. Give me Maryland -4.5.

The Pick: Maryland -4.5

Cornell -2.5 vs Lehigh O/U 24.5

If I am being honest I think that this line is truly a gift. This season is great because the sportsbooks are not fully on top of these lines for these games since lacrosse gambling is brand new. In their last meeting in 2019, Cornell came out with a 14-9 win. Lehigh is sitting at 1-1 right now. They only beat NJIT 10-5 which if were being honest, most teams beat them by double digits at least. They also lost to Hobart 13-14 last week. Some are saying that Hobart may be on the rise, but Lehigh was in the NCAA tournament last year so obviously things have changed a bit. Other people in the lacrosse twitter universe are calling out Lehigh as frauds already and I do not think it is that farfetched. I think Cornell covering -2.5 will be easy work for the Big Red.

The Pick: Cornell -2.5

Brown -2.5 vs Vermont O/U 25.5

This has the potential to be a high intensity match up. Vermont is 1-2 with a sole win over Penn State. There is no doubt that Vermont has a high powered offense but it is becoming more apparent that PSU might just not have it this year. They also suffered a 1 goal loss to upstart Utah. Brown is sitting at 1-1 but their loss looks really good. On Tuesday they lost to UNC 14-11. However, they were in that game to the very end, trading goals with UNC multiple times throughout the contest. I think that Brown’s body of work looks a lot better than Vermont’s and for that reason, I like Brown -2.5.

The Pick: Brown -2.5

Yale -5.5 vs Penn State O/U 28.5

There is not much to say here. Penn State is performing below expectations for a team that was Final 4 bound just a few years ago. Yale always has PSU’s number when it comes down to it. Right now it is operation fade Happy Valley. The Eli’s and the Points please.

The Pick: Yale -5.5

Ohio State -5.5 vs Harvard O/U 26.5

Ohio State’s offense just showed us how much of a buzzsaw they truly are. In a truly shocking result, they defeated then ranked #6 UNC 20-8. Jack Meyers put up 2 goals and 7 assists, while being accompanied by 10 other goal scorers. The Buckeyes have the ability to fill the back of the net and that is what I am banking on in this match up. I think that Harvard will get themselves on the board as well in this one which makes me really like the Over in this one. As long has the Crimson contribute I think this game will go Over 26.5.

The Pick: Over 26.5

Those are my predictions for this weekend's games. Stay tuned for another blog dropping soon with my predictions for next time. If you like my picks, or disagree with me, let me know on Twitter @t_hohenshelt. As always lets have ourselves a weekend and make some money, responsibly.
